On the nose, it opens with a crisp hit of green apple that quickly yields to deeper, darker tones of molasses-stained worn leather and a soft, peach-kissed smoke. A subtle dusting of white pepper adds intrigue and balance. The palate delivers an assertive wave of sweet, smoky rye spice that gradually evolves into notes of underripe peach and warm rye and caraway toast. Bottled at a 116.6 proof, it finishes long and warming, with rich oak and lingering mesquite smoke that evokes the smoldering pit of a slow-cooked Texas barbecue.
