Grapefruit Old Fashioned

Got this recipe from Woodford Reserve. We couldn't believe that a distillery that makes and ages as good of a whiskey as they do would then soak it in grapefruit. But it is delicious! The grapefruit actually enhances the flavor of the bourbon. It is definitely worth the effort to make this.

Grapefruit Old Fashioned

2 oz. Grapefruit-Infused LPS Bourbon

½ oz. fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice

½ oz. burnt sugar simple syrup or demerara sugar cube

3 drops grapefruit bitters

Shake on ice.

Strain over big cube into a rocks glass.

Garnish with maraschino cherry and a grapefruit peel.

Grapefruit-Infused Bourbon

1 bottle LPS Bourbon

Peel from 2 grapefruit – no pith

Fruit pieces from 2 grapefruit – no pith

Assemble in covered jar.

Let sit for 3 days.

Strain off the grapefruit and use.

Refrigerate when not using.
