Many weekends, we find ourselves making a ton of old fashioneds. By staurday night, we have a fridge full of peeled oranges. In an effort to reduce waste, we juiced them all and created the L'Orangerie Whiskey Sour. Now no orange gets left behind.

Ingredients

2 oz. Bourbon

1 3/4 oz. Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice

1/2 oz. Simple Syrup

3/4 oz. Sours

1 Egg White

Add all ingredients to shaker and dry shake. Add ice and shake on ice. Strain contents into a coupe glass. Garnish with an orange twist and drops of angostura bitters.

Simple Syrup

1 part sugar

1 part water

Combine and bring to a boil until sugar dissolves. Let cool before using.

Sours

1 part Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice

1 part Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice

Why does the FNF recipe use both a separate "Sours" mixture and fresh orange juice instead of just adding lemon and lime juice directly to the cocktail?
